The fact that it catches only specific data from a huge pool of customer data inorder to have targeted email campaigns makes it unique and powerful. It automatically captures all interactions that we make with every customer and it also captures how each customer interacts with our website and application. This ensures that every customer is treated differently and that every email should bring desired results from the customer. All these processes are automated meaning we spend less time on it and we focus our time on other major tasks. It was easy to integrate it with our email service and other additional marketing and customer service management platforms.
It has been working so well only that it does not allow us to filter content to make sure the email campaigns arrive in the inbox instead of spam folders of our clients.
We use it to collect customer data to be used in marketing campaigns and it also sends the emails to the clients based on data collected. It has brought automation to these processes in our organization and it works very well.
I like that you can pass custom data from your own product or users into Customer.io for use in segmenting users and in the copy of the emails you're sending. Even cooler is the ability to automatically trigger these campaigns based on a user's entrance into a segment or a specific action they take in the product. That's extremely powerful for our enterprise product.
I mainly create campaigns and don't deal as much with logging user data to Customer.io, so I have to turn to my own development team to get new information logged, which can take some time. Writing campaign triggers based on Liquid code also involves a bit of a learning curve.
We want to generate trust to our subscribers and achieve many more prospects that eventually become customers due to the quality of our products, which is why we decided to try Customer.io in its free version and currently use the Basic membership of 150 dollars per month that gives us the advantage of twelve thousand profiles and send unlimited emails, in the future we may change to the Premium
The interface is extremely fast. Segmenting options are very wide, and because you are the one sending the events and the data, the sky is the limit. In our case, we use this only for email (you could use it for SMS or push notifications too). So far the results of our behavioral campaigns (based on custom events on our platform) work incredibly well.
It's extremely technical. This means that (1) you need to know very well how to integrate with Customer.io. This is NOT easy and will take some time to a developer. Your platform needs to be able to send events to Customer.io, so prepare to change things on your platform. Also, the fact that using a unique ID and not being able to merge contacts is a pain. We have been changing some things and the way we use Customer.io and this has complicated things, because we have duplicated contacts. Having to send the "created_at" feature is also something that could be avoided.
So far the platform works great, the trigger campaigns are amazing and it's extremely flexible and versatile.
It's a detail, but the fact to not be able to filter in the events by using "property.subproperty" really makes things complicated for segmenting. We want to check if the sale has a value higher than a threshold for free shipping, so we would like to use sale.properties.amount but that is not possible.
Exporting data could be a ton great, right now is very poor.
We use it for sending emails to our customer, we are an ecommerce.
We have it connected with OptinMonster and use it for triggered campaigns based on behavior. That works incredibly well and converts a lot. We also send our newsletters with this software.
It is able to track events and properties across any ID, which makes it very valuable. We had the chance to catch the plans that were cheaper, nowadays it's a bit more expensive ($250 min) for a small startup.
