What is Zapier?

"Zapier connects various applications to make automated workflows."

Zapier is an automation platform that moves between apps, creating workflows and automated tasks. The main goal of this service is increasing individual's or team's productivity by creating processes, so users can focus on their most important work.

This is an integration platform, that triggers the previously defined action when a certain event happens. The trigger could be a received email, while the action could be moving the attachment to Dropbox, and alert in Slack, or SMS notifications. These automated tasks are named "Zaps".

Zapier offers many features like task history, import/export via Google Sheets, dashboards, connected accounts, calendar synchs, zap templates, user community, and so on. It is possible to replay tasks depending on user's decisions, along with numerous seamless integrations with different apps. The pricing is flexible, so users can tailor it to their needs.

What do you like about Zapier?

Zapier makes it simple to connect and automate a whole range of apps so that information can get where it needs to. You don’t need any coding knowledge to do this (although you can run snippets of code in Zapier for more complex tasks).
The practical importance of this is that you can automate numerous repetitive or boring tasks, so you can focus on other things. For example: adding new records to a spreadsheet when someone signs up to a trial.
Once you're used to it most Zaps can be set up in under 10 minutes.

What do you dislike about Zapier?

The integrations are usually high quality, but I have come across a small number which fall short – usually because they don’t have all the features which they need.
Zapier not having an integration at all is pretty rare – I think it’s only happened to me once – but an annoyance when it does happen.
Zapier lets you know when a zap runs into a problem and stops but it's not alway clear about why.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Zapier solve?

Creating tasks and reminders when something important happens, broadcasting updates to where the team can see them, logging events in spreadsheets.
