Opphounds visualisations are what make it easy to use. The graphics make it easy to quickly get a feel for various deals that we have on the go and what ones are worth pursuing and what to focus on.
The addition of the resource section has also helped us to make sure we can allocate sufficient resources to staff the deals before they become projects.
Nothing. Every time we have had an issue, we've sent off suggestions to the support team and they have been responsive and happy to look at how to adjust the tool to our requirements.
We have used Opphound to manage our pipeline, shifting from a spreadsheet to something that was visual and allowed live collaboration. Being web based it also means our sales and BD team can use the tool on the move, whilst traveling and not tied to having to access servers through VPNs.
Opphound does three things I really like. First, it allows us to present information graphically, allowing us to have good, focused discussions on our opportunities. Second, it helps us plan what we need to do to capture these opportunities, by showing us where we need resources and who in our team has capacity. Third, we can track our progress by assigning tasks to people and updating these as we go.
These three things have actually helped us align our sales pipeline with our company strategy, and that lets us get the most our of Business Development time and effort.
We use the on-screen graphics and tables to run meetings and it works well for us given our size. The export function also allows us to dump our opportunities and tasks into Excel whenever we need it.
As we expand and our pipeline grows I think we will be looking for some reporting functions to help present some rolled-up information on our Business Development work, so that can take pre-formatted information out of Opphound and show it to General Manager level.
Opphound allows us to manage all of our pre-contract work. We use the tool to identify opportunities and see them in terms of their value, maturity, and likelihood of win. It allows us to put a realistic value on our overall pipeline of work (essential when trying to predict whether we will meet our revenue targets) and work out which are the opportunities we should pursue. We can then assign people to capture tasks and track the progress of each opportunity until we will it.
Having that constant visibility really helps focus our effort and our work where we need it.

Primary use is to record and track opportunities as they arise or are targeted. Opphound ensures we have a visual reference to the status of those opportunities and enables us to minimise waste of effort and time on requests for quotes that appear lucrative but have limited chance of being won.
