My hands-down favorite aspect of Desktop.com is the ability to organize my life into key segments and keep them organized. It's a new take on an old concept that no one has been able to do well since the Mac Taskbar or RocketDock in Windows/Ubuntu. It has made me more productive and wastes less time while at work and at home.
The features that have been coming out are fantastic but as with any new software, the initial learning curve was very much left up to me to learn the software. They have since been adding a lot of information and videos to the knowledge base and blog that are extremely helpful. I highly recommend taking the minute or two and reading the documentation to get the most out of Desktop.com.
Cleaning up my personal life - I use Desktop.com to keep track of important dates, important apps, and any personal documents all in one spot. It's especially helpful when managing links and documents from Google Docs, the interface there quickly loses function when you're editing more than 5 documents regularly.
Planning large events with friends/family - Instead of having to print out tons of documents, share links, and be the only person updating said documents; I can now share everyone involved to the Desktop and see their participation and collaboration. At first, everyone was skeptical but after using it for a day or two they realize the great help it has been.
Bookmarks - Now instead of having to choose my 10 favorite bookmarks, I can organize them into folders and add descriptions. This has helped speed up my retention of information, i.e. I bookmarked a website three weeks ago and forgot what I was going to use it for. With the description I can leave myself a note in realtime
Desktop helps me organize all my apps and links in a very simple an intuitive way. It allows me to onboard and off board employees with ease as well.
There is really nothing to dislike about the service they provide. It does what it should but there are some features on the way that will make it even more useful.
It helps me organize my digital life in a simple way.
