Confluence Features

Confluence offers many core features to users of the platform, including:

A powerful workplace

Under this category, you’ll find several features and tools that can assist you in collaborating with your team members efficiently. This increases productivity and organization, especially since you can now create and share pages, search and organize the files and documents easily and gain feedback using inline and page comments.

Other abilities include the ability to use powerful search engines, page archive and structured page trees. You can also use templates and add your own touches to them, which include GIFs, images and videos to make your content more dynamic. If you need help regarding your pages, then you can mention a team member to assist in your progress.

Templates

Confluence features a wide collection of templates. Templates for many aspects are available, including product requirements, marketing plans, email drip campaigns and design systems. Having this collection lessens the time you usually spend in creating pages to attract your online audience. Instead, you can now develop a marketing strategy and embrace remote work with the help of these templates.

Integrations and apps

One of the top features in Confluence includes the ability to empower your pages with the help of popular applications and platforms including Jira, Team Calendars and Trello. You also have the option to customize this software solution with the applications, which helps optimize themes, workflow management solutions and diagramming. Overall, having these integrations secures and tracks your projects effectively.

Confluence Pricing

Confluence offers pricing packages based on a cloud-based solution or on-premise deployment. These two categories vary drastically when it comes to the prices and this is mostly because you only need to pay once for the on-premise deployment. In line with this, three pricing packages can be found under the cloud-based solution while two plans are hosted on the self-managed ones.

Cloud

Three pricing packages are made available in Cloud. Here, you’ll get to choose between the following: Free, Standard and Premium. They differ according to the level of functionality and amount of features they offer to the team. Here are the packages as described by Confluence:

Free

As stated by the name itself, it’s completely free forever. In this package, you get to add up to 10 users, allowing for collaboration within a small workforce. Other features include unlimited spaces and pages, macros, structured page tree, page versioning, best practice template library and other integrations. Its storage space has a maximum of 2 GB. If you have any questions, you can benefit from community support to have all your questions answered.

Standard

On the other hand, the second package is priced at $5.00 per month and per user. Standard is fit for businesses and organizations that have more than 5,000 users. It has everything that was offered in the previous package. The only difference is that you can now set page and space permissions. Other features include the ability to archive and unarchive pages, along with anonymous access. You can also benefit from audit logs and an overall 250 GB file storage space. A trial version is available for Standard.

Premium

The last package is priced at $10.00 per month and per user. Just like Standard, you can add up to 5,000 users on the platform. Everything that Confluence offers can be found in this package. Additional features include anonymous access, an admin key, analytics, inspect permissions and copy space permissions. A 99.9% uptime SLA was guaranteed and you can benefit from unlimited storage space. Any questions and inquiries can be addressed efficiently, thanks to the 24/7 premium support.

Just like Standard, Premium offers a trial version.

Self-managed

The self-managed packages are free for 30 days. Two pricing packages are available, designed for teams of all sizes. If you prefer having your server hosted onto your own system, then the plans found under this category are your most viable options. You can choose between the two: server or data center.

Server

This plan starts at $10.00 for 10 users. It follows a one-time payment fee and you can even try out its features in a free trial version. With this package, it’s easier to gain control over your environment in a single server deployment. You can also rely on a perpetual license along a free year of maintenance.

The maximum number of users in this package reaches up to more than 10,000 users, which is priced at $150,000 overall.

Data center

The Data center plans minimum number of users is set at 500. The data center plan is most suitable for businesses that have a larger working force, which requires higher levels of functionalities and more advanced tools and features. Not only does it offer you the same tools in server for a larger workforce but it also has an Atlassian-supported disaster recovery feature.

The difference between the cloud and server options is the level of setup involved. The first one is for those who want to immediately get started efficiently and quickly while the second option gives you more freedom to configure and manage the technical settings of the platform. Confluence accepts all types of payments, including bank transfers, credit cards, check or ACH. It also has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a top project management software solution, then Confluence is a viable option. Not only is complete with powerful features and intuitive integrations with other applications, but it’s reasonably affordable. With this solution, business owners and team leaders’ jobs are simplified regarding task delegation, progress monitoring and employee tracking.

"Best Collaboration tool in the market "

What do you like about Confluence?

Ease of use in terms of creating spaces and page trees for product specific work. The subscriber feature where the users who opted to watch the page gets notified through emails in case of any changes in the page. The templates are excellent in terms of picking up the page which we want to create based on the need. Provision to have external extensions to have dynamic content in the pages is a huge advantage.

What do you dislike about Confluence?

The page formatting features should be improved from a overall product standpoint. Templates availability for various operations across industries should be made available to save customers time and create better user experience.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Confluence solve?

All the product requirements in our company are tracked using confluence. We can collaborate across teams to get real time feedback and have the requirements connected to Jira for creating user stories and tracking them on boards.

"Confluence: easy and intuitive knowledge sharing"

What do you like about Confluence?

Confluence's licensing model is very robust, allowing and disabling access to certain areas of Confluence based on users and groups, making it easy to control sensitive information. Confluence's built-in graphs and reports make it easy to create detailed reports that clearly show project status, defect accumulation, etc. in a digestible way. As part of the Atlassian suite, Confluence makes it easy to pull information from other products in the suite, making it easy to link JIRA issues, Bitbucket pull requests, etc. Atlassian Confluence is ideal for capturing knowledge and sharing it with your organization. Whether it's a blog post, white paper, or project status report, Confluence can handle it. Whenever detailed written documentation is valuable to your organization, Atlassian Confluence is the tool to use.

What do you dislike about Confluence?

For expensive tools like Confluence, I hope Atlassian will start buying and merging some 3rd party add-ons that provide extraordinary value as part of the core product, instead of relying on end users to implement these add-ons properly. Atlassian can do better and help users discover its many features. Sometimes I say "I hope Confluence can" and a colleague of mine has found a way. Once these functions are known, they are usually easy to use. Confluence's query language can be very clunky, and it's good to see Atlassian create a visual query builder to make creating queries easier.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Confluence solve?

My entire department uses Atlassian Confluence to support knowledge management and communication in all aspects of software development. Our project managers leverage its powerful integration with JIRA for status reporting, and our software developers use it for technical documentation, decision logs, and team collaboration. Our Scrum masters use it to record sprint rituals, including retrospective details. I can't think of a single job function that doesn't use Confluence every day.

"a great collaboration software that makes it easy to manage projects"

What do you like about Confluence?

Confluence is great tool to manage projects and it is extremely easy to use to write documents there is no need to master the markup language or asciidoc or any others. You can create great-looking content with just the confluence UI. There a lot of plugins and addons out there that can be integrated with confluence like chat plugin and draw.io web site. Confluence will notify the team about changes made on specific content and it allows users to comment pages.
Confluence can be integrated with Jira easily.
Confluence provides a test version so you can test it and decide whether to buy it or not.

What do you dislike about Confluence?

Confluence security is difficult to manage. In fact, auto-updates are not possible and once a flow discovered things can go so wrong a serious issue is remote code execution (https://www.cvedetails.com/cve/CVE-2019-3398/) the only remedy available is to upgrade to another version.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Confluence solve?

- Products documentation
- project management
- content creation and detailed documentation
- meetings management
- link jira tickets to confluence

"Creation and edition of pages."

What do you like about Confluence?

About Confluence is a great tool that offers a great opportunity since it allows the creation of web pages.
I love this platform the variety of features it offers, among them the simple ones at the time of the creation of a page since using the Create button, a blank page is created.
Also we can insert image. They can be images that have already been uploaded, upload a new one, an image that we have in a link or one that is in other pages. You can also insert images by pasting them from the clipboard simply by dragging it directly to the page.
This is one of the many features that I like about Confluence.

What do you dislike about Confluence?

One of the disadvantages of Confluence is that the programs tend to be somewhat unstable precisely because a large number of users contribute to create them and generate bugs.
They usually have support for a few days or it is very limited.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Confluence solve?

Confluence has collaborated to the evolution in terms of the elaboration of pages since it offers a variety of very powerful tools that make this task faster and more practical for all users.
This helps the growth and more current functioning of companies, regardless of whether they are macro or micro companies.
