"fantastic software"

// Accountant at KPMG

What do you like about Tableau?

Tableau has brought my department and our website into the 21st century. Making interactive dashboards and graphs has made a huge difference to the quality of our website and quality of our internal documents and presentations. Tableau does take some time to learn, but the capabilities of this program go way above and beyond anything else I have ever used. If there is a function you would like to do that is not supported with the point-and-click features of the program, you can write your own script, which is amazing.

What do you dislike about Tableau?

Tableau is expensive, and the vendors will definitely continue to try to push more paid products, such as Tableau server. If you are able to properly mask identifiers out from your data, Tableau Desktop + Tableau Public are great. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but they offer plenty of support tutorials.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Tableau solve?

We are using Tableau for online dashboards. Using interactive features, we are able to cut down on a lot of employee work time because folks who need data from us can now go to the website and filter on the dashboards without ever needing to have access to the individual-level data.

"Great for Marketing Research"

// Senior Manager - Supply Chain at PepsiCo

What do you like about Tableau?

Tableau is a great platform when it comes to marketing research and analytics. Utilizing the software's many visual dashboard layouts, graph types, and options helps to display visual representation of key metrics and KPIs. Using the platform, users are able to convert vast arrays of raw data into actionable business insights that help to foster collaboration and strategic decision making.

What do you dislike about Tableau?

While the many core features and functionality are great, one of the major drawbacks is how long it takes to properly learn to use the software. The basics are relatively simple, but it takes some time for users to truly learn the ins and outs of the system to leverage it to its full capabilities. In effect, the software is highly nuanced, thereby making some features harder to use than expected.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Tableau solve?

My organization has been using successfully utilizing Tableau in order to generate visual dashboards. This has proven to be very helpful when it came to preparation of materials for senior management and as well the creation of easy to follow presentations.
