CDN77

What is CDN77?

CDN77 is one of the leading global providers of content delivery network services.

CDN77 helps the world’s most demanded and widely accessed websites and apps deliver the best possible online experience to more than a billion users monthly.

Every second we receive more than 5,000,000 HTTP requests. Every day, we register traffic peaks over 30 Tbps. And every month, we successfully mitigate around 15,000 DDoS attacks.

With our 130 Tbps (and growing) network spread across six continents, we are designed to handle high-volume traffic and unexpected peaks of all sizes.

Our clients include live and on-demand video platforms such as Udemy and Sport1, security companies such as ESET, or high profile space agencies, including Hubble Space Telescope and the European Space Agency.

We are continually working side-by-side with our clients, developing additional features and custom configurations based on their specific needs.

Latency-based routing, multi-layered caching systems, origin shields, proprietary DDoS protection, and a client-centered approach are just a few reasons why customers rely on us.

CDN77 Review

Editors' Review by the Content Delivery Network (CDN) Software Review Team

CDN77 is a fully integrated, feature-rich network monitoring solution that caters to small and midsize enterprises (SMEs), non-profit organizations, and freelancers. The software provides users with end-to-end solutions designed for operating systems like Windows, including server monitoring, internet usage monitoring, network resource management, and uptime monitoring, all from a centralized location. It combines the various aspects of the content delivery network, such as robust client services, advanced video engineering, and comprehensive network scaling.

CDN77 is mainly designed to help businesses of all sizes manage their content delivery networks as well as visualize large volumes of data regarding web traffic and bandwidth performance. It provides network administrators with AI-based tools to help them identify anomalies in their CDN as well as analyze traffic in real time. The software solution also gives managers and admins the ability to quickly identify and mitigate potential distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks to facilitate their content security and protection efforts.

CDN77 enables supervisors to boost communications security throughout their networks in accordance with the secure sockets layer (SSL) and transport layer security (TLS) protocols. In addition, admins, managers, and teams can use the platform to monitor bandwidth levels and traffic consumption over a specific period.

The platform provides users with an application programming interface (API), which enables them to seamlessly integrate the CDN77 system with other third-party solutions, such as Joomla, OpenCart, Drupal, Magento Commerce, PrestaShop, and WordPress.

CDN77 Features

Whether the user is looking to run a personal blog site or an e-commerce website or wants to distribute software or music videos, CDN77 can play a significant role in facilitating the security and delivery process of their content through a wide range of features and tools. The following are just a few of the key features and functionalities of CDN77:

Performance analytics

CDN77 provides users with comprehensive performance analytics capabilities. This feature gives admins and network managers the ability to figure out the efficiency of their CDN utilization. The tool allows them to check their hit/miss ratio, i.e., the percentage of the traffic served by their CDN edge servers (referred to as cached requests) against the traffic served by the origin (known as uncached requests). It also enables users to access the response review of their visitors’ requests.

Traffic and bandwidth dashboard

CDN77 features a control panel and dashboard that provides users with an overview of their traffic and bandwidth data, along with a geographical breakdown. This particular feature offers useful data on total traffic consumption as well as the reached bandwidth level within a specific duration or time frame. It also enables users to pick and choose the CDN resource or data center they want displayed in their data review.

The overview function comes with user location data, which enables admins to view the geographical distribution of their traffic.

CDN storage management

CDN77 allows admins to efficiently manage their content delivery network, including storage. They are provided with the option to simply upload their files to a specific CDN storage and use it as their origin for delivering secure content across the globe. It also enables them to deliver their content worldwide securely and efficiently. The system helps reduce the number of load requests and usage costs since the content originates from their servers.

CDN77 also supports and promotes the uploading of all large static files to its CDN storage, including installation packs, videos, PDF documents, software updates, and images.

S3 storage integration

This feature is particularly useful for businesses and teams that already use AWS S3 as a primary storage solution for corporate documents and other important files. Network admins and managers can initiate the delivery of content globally through a cost-effective and highly efficient method, even if they’re utilizing AWS S3 storage. CDN77’s extensive network of PoPs can help minimize the S3 load as well as the associated costs by using an advanced latency-based routing method. This allows the system to cache and deliver content from the nearest CDN nodes.

REST API for CDN management

CDN77 provides a powerful REST API that helps users develop and integrate a system that automates any given task. This feature is well-suited for businesses and teams engaged in account or data management. Users looking to manage their CDN via programming-level access should find this tool quite useful. They can manage their cache data through the API’s data management function, which allows the purging and pre-fetching of multiple files.

The REST API also has an account editing tool that provides users with full access to their account, including the previous changes that have been made to it. They can easily create, delete, and manage all their CDN resources through the CDN77 REST API. Other features include billing and invoicing as well as access to detailed logs and reports.

Smart web application firewall (WAF)

CDN77 is equipped with a SmartWAF feature that is essentially an intelligent web application firewall. It can be enabled by clicking the button in the platform’s client panel. SmartWAF is a robust and user-friendly function that works on any web application.

CDN77 utilizes the OWASP Core Rule Set (CRS), which is tailored for deflecting some of the most typical or common vulnerabilities. This includes SQL injection (SQLi), remote file inclusion (RFI), local file inclusion (LFI), HTTProxy, cross-site scripting (XSS), Shellshock and PHP code injection, among others.

CDN77 Benefits

One of the main benefits of using a content delivery network is to enhance the performance and speed of websites and web applications across different industries. CDN77 is equipped with the features and tools that can make that happen. The following are some of the benefits that businesses of all sizes can expect from CDN77:

Customizable cache rules

CDN77 allows users to customize the cache rules, which means that they set the cache expiry time to meet their requirements. Admins can specify the length of time that their content will be stored in the CDN77 cache servers. They can choose anywhere between 10 minutes and 12 days. In addition, the system values cache-control headers more over the CDN cache expiry settings, giving them a higher priority.

Users can manage their cache rules either in the client section or through the built-in application programming interface (API). They also have the option to send their cache-control headers, including “s-maxage=”.

Free SSL certificate options

CDN77 offers free SSL certificate options. Users can make their websites HTTPS-ready via the platform’s InstantSSL, which is provided by Let’s Encrypt. They can also choose to install their own SNI certificate if they want to. The whole process is quick, simple, and completely free. CDN77 ensures that every HTTPS connection is backed by the most recent and advanced web performance and security solutions, including optimized HTTP/2 and TLS 1.3 with 0-RTT handshakes.

CDN77 offers all SSL/TLS options that businesses and teams might need. The platform provides users with an SSL certificate through the Let’s Encrypt authority for every CDN, URL, or CNAME that is added to their CDN Resource. The CDN provider then handles both the certificate configuration and the renewal process. Moreover, users can also opt to purchase SAN custom SSL to get an A-graded SSL certificate from any certified SAN provider.

Robust DDoS protection

All of CDN77’s points of presence (PoPs) are well-protected and equipped with purpose-built custom filters, all of which have more than 100G of network capacity. The system also comes with 24/7 traffic monitoring and is powerful enough to detect and prevent protocol and volume-based attacks in 10 seconds or less. CDN77 provides attack filters for NTP amplification, ICMP flood, UDP flood, SYN flood, and DNS amplification.

By collaborating with 15 transit providers around the world, CDN77 provides users with a robust network,  resulting in hundreds of direct peers/private peering, also known as private network interconnect, or PNI. It helps ensure the uninterrupted delivery of content by utilizing an external capacity of up to 50 Tbps. CDN77 also offers a proprietary DDoS protection solution that is based on the data plane development kit (DPDK). It works by combining real-time monitoring with machine learning, making it possible for the system to easily detect and prevent incoming attacks within seconds.

CDN77 Pricing

CDN77 pricing is based on monthly traffic volume. Pricing plans are divided into three categories: businesses with up to 150 TB, those with 150 TB – 50 PB, and 50 PB – 500 PB+. The up to 150 TB option has predefined monthly plans, while the 150 TB – 50 PB comes with custom monthly plans. The high-volume plans are offered in the 50 PB – 500 PB+ category. All plans, regardless of size, come with all features and full support from the vendor.

The predefined plans start at $199 for 6 TB of monthly traffic, with $0.033/GB overages. All pricing options come with a free trial. Visit the vendor’s website or contact them directly for more pricing information.

Conclusion

I decided to try G-Core's free plan with 1,000 GB of traffic per month for my project, and I've been impressed with the performance so far. The website loads quickly, and the traffic allocation is more than sufficient for my needs.

There have been instances where I needed immediate support, but the response was slow, and the lack of 24/7 support was inconvenient. I had to wait for a response during business hours, which delayed resolving my issue.
