Cloud 66 is an end-to-end service to build, deploy, and maintain applications on the cloud without having to deal with the potential issues of deploying onsite and offsite servers. This service enables users to deploy their infrastructure on either a public or private cloud server to deliver web services, backends, and APIs while being able to enjoy a bevy of features including persistent storage, custom network configuration, full database support, managed backups, zero downtime deployments, and limitless team sizes.
Cloud 66 gives businesses everything they need to maintain infrastructure on the cloud. This works by first connecting a user’s git repository, through either their cloud provider account, their servers, or a hybrid of the two, and then clicking “Go.” Cloud 66 leverages Linux containers to empower developers to increase efficiency, improve software development workflows, and take advantage of higher returns as a result of their investment in Cloud 66.
Cloud 66 comes with plenty of features that help developers build, deploy, and manage their code. These features can benefit both startups and enterprises, especially since the solution is scalable. Some of Cloud 66’s features include the following:
Users will be able to deploy their applications on any cloud server they’re currently using, including their in-house server. The user’s server is built based on the analysis of their code and what it needs. It is also possible to deploy HAProxy servers for load balancing.
Businesses can easily scale their servers up or down with a single click when using Cloud 66. This ensures that a server can be adjusted to meet certain needs, including additional processing power or memory for company operations and services. Among the different things that can be scaled are load balancers, process servers, web servers, and database servers.
Using Cloud 66 allows users to use a secure private network that runs across a company’s different applications on different cloud servers. Cloud 66 integrated WireGuard into its systems, so a user’s APN can run on WireGuard and let businesses access their servers through an encrypted tunnel. Cross-cloud applications are now also possible for BYOS users.
Through the Cloud 66 APN, businesses will be able to easily connect to their servers regardless of what OS or device they’re using.
Cloud 66 allows its users to control access to their servers during deployment. This is thanks to Cloud 66’s bastion servers, which work for all the service’s supported cloud providers.
Cloud 66 users will be able to choose between serial, parallel, and rolling server deployment strategies. This gives businesses full control and allows them to benefit from zero-downtime deployments when they need to deploy or redeploy applications.
Depending on the user’s requirements, they can attain zero-downtime deployments when using servers that support hot rollovers like Unicorn and Passenger Enterprise. When users use Unicorn and redeploy their application, Cloud 66 sends a USR2 signal that tells Unicorn to launch a new master in parallel, initiate new worker processes, deactivate old worker processes, and shut down the existing master.
Users will be able to preview any changes they make to their applications before rolling them out in production. Team members can also preview and review the deployments to ensure that the updates are fully approved.
Should an application be released with a bad update, a rollover feature will be useful to rectify any mistakes by allowing users to go back to the working version of the application.
With read-only access, Cloud 66 can build and deploy code directly from the user’s git repository. This ensures that every component installed on a user’s server will have a git-backed configuration file that they can customize. When granting access to a repository, users can choose from private GitHub repositories, manually configured GitHub access, private non-GitHub repositories, and public repositories.
Businesses will be able to back up their application databases when using Cloud 66. This can help in achieving a 3-2-1 backup strategy by allowing users to have encrypted backups onsite or offsite with a web-based restore function. It is also possible to restore backups on a separate server to run test queries to check for data integrity.
Users can deploy their applications either to different data centers or cloud servers. This allows businesses to have a manual or automatic fallback process to ensure that an application has high availability by running two instances of the application when traffic is high.
When using Cloud 66, users can invite team members to a project and pre-assign their respective roles and permissions. Users will also be able to grant per-application and per-cloud access rights to team members.
Assigning team members is relatively easier due to the available template roles. If a certain role has already been assigned to a team member, users can copy it for other team members.
Businesses will be able to enforce two-factor authentication for team members, with multiple options being available. Users can select from app-based 2FA, U2F security keys, 2FA enforcement, and multi-key encryption. Additional security includes protection against brute-force access attempts, sensitive file changes, application health checks, and active monitoring of reduced security levels.
Using Cloud 66 helps developers improve their app development workflows by providing a secure platform with useful features to manage app deployments, secure servers, and backup applications. These features can help businesses enjoy the following benefits:
Cloud 66 offers an unusual Free plan that makes it extremely useful for small businesses in that all Cloud 66 features are available in the Free plan. There’s no need to subscribe to the Grow plan until the current server can no longer handle the number of customers.
Streamlined application deployment through Cloud 66 means that companies can lower their server costs by up to 80%, especially since there are no associated maintenance costs when a business does not have an in-house server. Hiring DevOps, SREs, and DBAs is expensive compared to relying on Cloud 66 for all server matters, especially since Cloud 66 starts at $29 per month for six servers per application and allows users to take control of their servers.
Businesses can easily scale their servers through a single-click scaling feature to adjust the number of containers they want to run. Additionally, it is easy to replicate databases, add load balancers, and manage SSL certificates and traffic.
Cloud 66 makes scaling easy due to its master-slave replication and the possibility of zero-downtime deployments. Meaning that businesses can continue taking advantage of the service while still being able to efficiently manage their growth.
Cloud 66 users will have servers secured by a firewall, DDoS protection, sensitive file changes, APN, 2FA, security keys, and the capability to actively monitor security levels. These security measures protect accounts, servers, and applications from attacks and allow businesses to confidently use the service for their development projects.
Users can subscribe to either a plan for applications or static sites. The plans for apps include the Free plan, which offers one free server per application and unlimited apps, and the Grow plan, which costs $29 per month and adds five additional servers per application and charges an additional 9$ for any extra servers. The plan for static sites costs $1.99 a month per website.
The Free plan is appropriate for businesses with a limited number of customers that can be accommodated on a single server. Growing enterprises and large companies will need the Grow plan to take advantage of multiple servers, and the Grow plan is relatively affordable, especially when considering a big company’s profits from its many customers.
Cloud 66 also offers a 2-week free trial with all features available. This does not require a credit card.
Cloud 66 is a cost-effective, end-to-end infrastructure management solution that helps businesses build, manage, and maintain their infrastructure. This is thanks to the low cost of using this service compared to using SREs, DBAs, ELBs, NLBs, and ALBs and managing an in-house server. Additionally, businesses will be able to add as many team members as they want at no extra cost.
Small businesses can stick to the Free plan since it supports an unlimited number of applications while also having all the features of the paid plan. Should businesses receive more customers than their current servers can handle, they can switch to the paid plan. Cloud 66 is a feature-heavy solution that is not only useful for many users but also quite affordable, especially when considering alternatives.
