Nearly every organization has automation as a top priority in 2018. The drivers behind the people, process, and technology changes are to reduce cost and increase efficiencies, with a small percentage embarking on automation IT projects to support new business efforts.
That being said, Network and Security professionals are at a crossroads. There is an agreement to implement automation, yet there are not enough skilled professionals to manage current and future projects. Indeni's survey findings show day-to-day urgent support/troubleshooting is the #1 barrier preventing engineers and operations to contribute to more strategic efforts. When taking a closer look at troubleshooting, and the complexity associated with these tasks, it is evident that there is a programming knowledge gap that needs to be addressed in parallel.
