This plugin creates much cleaner vector file DXFs for laser, water jet, or plasma cutting versus the native Adobe Illustrator DXF exporter. The only challenging part is figuring out the best EXDXF-Pro settings for the nesting software being used to program the file to be cut. Once the settings have been established and streamlined, then you are good to go (since the settings are saved for every future export). This software has saved us countless hours of micro-adjustments to drawings created in Illustrator.
Finding the appropriate settings when using the plugin is the most-challenging part. Also, sometimes you have to mess with the settings when a new version of Illustrator comes out that gets auto-updated. You might consider turning off auto-update through Adobe and only upgrade to the newest version of AI every few years and the new version always seems to require tweaking of the EXDXF-Pro settings. It is also fairly expensive now that it's on a subscription model.
We've been using it to laser cut drawings created in Illustrator. The DXF has much cleaner lines and reduced line segmentation, with more accuracy, than the native .AI DXF exporter function.
