About Amazon Redshift

Amazon Redshift is a hosted Data Warehouse-as-a-Service platform. It makes it easy and cost-effective for users to efficiently analyze their data, utilizing current business intelligence tools.

Amazon RedShift is built to be scalable, mostly in a clustered environment with a leader node. It relies on an MPP (massively parallel processing) architecture, with a focus on parallelism in operations execution. The platform incorporates Redshift Spectrum as well, making it possible to directly run SQL queries.

The compatibility feature covers standard JDBC and ODBC drivers, integrations is possible with most BI and ETL tools that support PostgreSQL. This solution is well-known for its high performance, elegant user experience, strong security, high scalability, and elasticity.

About InterSystems IRIS

At the core of InterSystems IRIS Data Platform is a proven, enterprise-grade, distributed hybrid transactional/analytic processing (HTAP) database. It can ingest and store transactional data at very high rates while simultaneously processing high volumes of analytic workloads on real-time data (including ACID-compliant transactional data)
and non-real-time data.

InterSystems IRIS includes a native multi-model persistence engine, which helps to operate the data via key-value, document, SQL, or object API. The set of InterSystems IRIS API includes ODBC/JDBC, java, .NET, nodejs, python, call-in/call-out interfaces, REST and web-sockets capabilities and more.

InterSystems IRIS provides horizontal scalability for high data volumes and demanding application workloads through a flexible scalable architecture. For large data volumes, InterSystems' IRIS sharding capability allows horizontal partitioning of database tables, spreading their data and associated workload across a tier of data nodes. For high user counts or competing workloads, a tier of compute nodes can be added to the cluster to serve data at ultra-low latencies.

All nodes are based on the same technology, providing a 100% homogeneous architecture and correspondingly lower TCO than composite architectures with separate caching layer technologies as proposed by other vendors.

InterSystems IRIS Interoperability

InterSystems IRIS provides a complete set of native integration and interoperability features. It provides out-of-the-box connectivity and data transformations for a wide range of packaged applications, databases, industry standards, protocols, and technologies. Flexible data transformation capabilities enable InterSystems IRIS to resolve differences in semantics and data schemas that exist between applications or services.
Application developers can create seamless business processes that connect with internal and external data sources, applications, and services.

InterSystems IRIS provides graphical tooling to visually diagram processes, rules, and workflows, allowing developers to focus on the logical interactions between systems, minimizing concerns about application interfaces, adapters, or middleware mechanisms.

The embedded role-based workflow engine supports manual interactions in business processes, automating the distribution of tasks among users and incorporating their decisions and actions.

InterSystems IRIS Analytics capabilities
InterSystems IRIS also provides an Open Analytics Platform, built around its universal, high-performance data store and offering data analysts, data scientists and data engineers an opportunity to run their analytic workflows in a straightforward, coordinated and efficient fashion.
An Open Analytics Platform is one that allows partners and end-users to build solutions and services that leverage best-of-breed analytics technologies, both embedded in the platform and complementary to it. It is not a point-and-click solution, but a polyglot platform offering data services and interoperability with multiple, proven analytics technologies.

An Open Analytics Platform implies Data Integration, Data Preparation and Data Science capabilities, each of them maximizing resource utilization vertically as well as horizontally.
InterSystems IRIS' embedded analytics capabilities include a high-performance multidimensional query engine for BI-style analytics and a unique NLP technology for identifying concepts and their context in natural language text.

Next to fast SQL and xDBC drivers for access by third-party tools, it supports relevant standards and technologies including PMML, UIMA and Apache Spark InterSystems IntegratedML is an all-SQL machine learning (ML) module for InterSystems IRIS or IRIS for Health that:
- Gives users the ability to create, train and deploy powerful models from simple SQL syntax without requiring data scientists.
- Wraps "best of breed" open source and proprietary "AutoML" frameworks including DataRobot.
- Focuses on easy deployment to IRIS, so you can easily add machine learning to your applications.
