Sage HR (formerly CakeHR) is a workforce management software solution ideal for small startups, as well as small- to medium-sized businesses and large enterprises that want to avoid getting bogged down by all the paperwork and spreadsheets just to manage their employees’ attendance and time off.

What do you like about Sage HR?

It is a great product. We really like the features of general HR, setting up feedbacks, reporting and goals follow up. It is easy to use for everyone in the company. It is nice having everything in one specific place instead of different spreadsheets.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

The time tracking module needs improvement. It is too basic. It should let you see the comments when pulling out reports and add different projects and tasks to be assigned to the same person,

We have been using it for the whole company. Employees now have everything in one specific place instead and we don't need to track info manually. It has helped us automize some processes.

What do you like about Sage HR?

The user interface of the web application is nice.

It is easy to use by employees for absence requests.

The calendar view is very convenient to see at a glance the planned absences.

The talent department likes the performance module.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

General: The administration of the system is difficult. It is not prepared for companies with more than 50 employees because any type of grouping has to be done employee by employee, among other thigs.

Support: It is disconcerting, sometimes responding quickly and providing some solution, but most of the time, besides responding late, it gives the feeling of unprofessionalism.

Interface: Apparently it is nice, but there are some views, such as the user profile management, where they are limited to show in a single column each one of the fields, which makes very uncomfortable the information visualization.

Document management: It is extremely basic and not very efficient. It becomes chaotic.

Absences: It more or less works well, although as always, with little flexibility, burdening the talent department with avoidable tasks.

Expenses: The same, very basic implementation. For us to be able to use it in my company a couple of additional fields are needed (name and VAT number of the provider) which they promised to add before the second quarter of 2019 but have not yet done so. In general there are few updates. I feel that they were adding new features more frequently at the beginning of the year.

Mobile application: It is very basic, almost no functionality. You can't clock in/out from the app, which is essential these days for employees who move around. From support I was told to access the web application from a mobile browser...

API: Very basic and incomplete.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Sage HR solve?

Certainly, cakeHR solves part of the management of my company's talent department, but it is still far from being a suitable software for companies with more than 50 employees.

Changing any software in a large organization is complicated and I believe that CakeHR has a great potential to be exploited, so I still hope that they will listen to the users' suggestions and implement the requested functionalities.

It would be a good thing if they published the roadmap so that we could know how they are going to develop the product.

What do you like about Sage HR?

Working with Cake.hr for more than a year, we use 2 sections: Recruitment and Performance. These two parts help us cover one of the significant l processes in the company. Recruitment process, thanks to Cake.hr has become more transparent . Now we can easily understand the statuses of different tasks and manage them. The performance part helps us collect Analytics for each employee, plan employee development, 1 to 1 meeting and record each employee's progress.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

We have some issues with easily and quickly integrating Cake to our company. They are being solved, but it would be better to reduce their number)

"No more physical claims!"


What do you like about Sage HR?

Due to Covid-19, we were facing issues with accepting physical claims from our colleagues since all of us are working from home. And luckily we found CakeHR which is a life saver for us! We love the ease of use and the reasonable rate!

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

Overall, the expenses function is ease to use. But setting up the system took a while as the help resources are limited.

What do you like about Sage HR?

CakeHR is very easy to use. It is very straight forward and all the employees got it very quickly how to use it for booking their time off.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

So far we didn´t find anything we would not like. It was slightly complicated to set up all employees with their details, but once it was done, it is working perfectly fine.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Sage HR solve?

We are using CakeHR for reserving the time off. As the company has grown it was difficult to keep track of days off. Now everyone can see in the calendar who is on holiday or home office.

What do you like about Sage HR?

CakeHR makes managing my company's time off policies so easy. Also, the management of when my people are off, etc is very efficient with the CakeHR tool. This tool offers great value for what it provides. Service is great and the CakeHR team is knowledgeable.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

The app could be more robust and offer more features, especially on an admin level.

What do you like about Sage HR?

I searched through a lot of different HR systems and Cake HR was the best for my small company mainly because I could pick and choose features that I wanted to use. It was easy to add assets and the search questions and customer service was pretty good about responses.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

It doesn't have a purely admin or HR account. I wanted to create an account for our HR person to be able to be the admin, but since she would not be doing the performance appraisal, etc, I thought I shouldn't be charged for that. In Cake, I can only pick number of users on timesheets/expense, but not for the Performance appraisal side. So, I had to delete her as a user and then be the admin myself so I wasn't paying for that monthly. It also doesn't seem to take into account terminated employees and not charging you for them without you having to delete their data which is also unfair to be paying for that rather than simply archiving.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Sage HR solve?

I've been using it to track my employee's personnel data, goals, performance appraisal, assets handed to them for on boarding and off boarding, etc. It's also used for time off tracking.

What do you like about Sage HR?

Its very easy usable software for leave management. It increased employee engagement levels, employees are taking more vacations, especially those who had many vacation days accumulated. Easy to use form administration side too.

What do you dislike about Sage HR?

Everything is great! I had no problems using this software. Our company will continue using it.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Sage HR solve?

As the company grows, its harder to manage employees manually. Now employees see they accumulated vacations days without asking management and feel more comfortable to take vacations. Of course less paperwork.
