Jira Features

Jira provides users with many helpful features, such as:

Automated workflows

As Jira is perfectly catered for different members of the team, the workflows are designed to engage employees differently. You can create workflows that match how your team works and that can be enhanced with other popular integrations such as BitBucket, Confluence and a variety of developer tools.

Team management

Jira gives you Kanban and Scrum boards to ensure your entire team is on the same page regarding your projects. These make it easier to know which tasks have yet to be done, which ones are currently in progress and which ones have already been finished.

Additionally, with Jira’s team management features, teams can now plan, track, release and report better. The processes behind these aspects are simplified, allowing users to create plan sprints, distribute tasks quickly, prioritize specific work, release up-to-date information and report how well your team has been doing in real time.

Applications and integrations

The Atlassian marketplace is rich with popular applications and integrations, all designed to optimize your current software solution. Using these apps, you’ll benefit from a wide range of solutions that are useful for your software teams.

Jira Benefits

When you use Jira, you benefit from the following:

Agile project management

In this software solution, you can use Scrum and Kanban boards. This approach is useful in keeping track of your progress and tasks. Since you’ll be working closely for the development of projects, it’s important to know where you stand. Jira allows you to use agile project management features, ensuring accurate data, regulatory updates about your work and easy organization.

Customization options

Jira doesn’t restrict your work with basic templates and standard workflows. Each business is highly unique and requires a wide range of customization. With Jira, you can customize what your team needs such as customizable issue types, states, workflows and fields.

Engaging workflows

With a 360-degree view of all related business processes in Jira, every member of the team is equipped with a solution that not only notifies them of topics and tasks that they need to know but also gives them a platform in which they can use to communicate with other people in their team. As the workflows are catered specifically to how your business works, only the people involved can share ideas and attach relevant documents online.

Accessible data

Jira unifies all your data in a single, centralized location where users can access, view and retrieve relevant information online. This is useful if you want to analyze certain trends of your development process and investigate various statistics of your progress. You can even integrate multiple templates and applications to ensure no issues or interferences get in the way of your data. Additional options let you create your own custom summaries as well.

Enterprise-grade security features

Jira doesn’t want you to worry about your information getting into the wrong hands. This is why it’s complete with API token control, user provisioning, enforced 2FA and SAML SSO. All of these tools, along with privacy features, data encryption and software compliance, are all designed to protect your data from malicious hackers and external forces. This just doesn’t cover Jira alone but also other Atlassian cloud products.

Jira Pricing

Jira has three pricing packages, which are all catered for different team sizes and hosted in the cloud. The pricing is different if you want to try an on-premise deployment. These plans have the same features. What makes them unique from one another is the number of users you can add to the plan. However, all are easy to navigate thoroughly.

Free

The first plan is completely free for its users. You can add up to 10 people in this solution. There is no monthly or yearly obligation to pay, making it ideal for smaller businesses and new teams.

Standard

On the other hand, Standard is priced at $7.00 per user and per month. In this solution, you can add up to a maximum of 5,000 users. Before you fully subscribe to the plan, you can benefit from a seven-day free trial version. No credit card information is required.

Premium

While Premium has the same number of users as Standard, it’s priced differently. For $14.00 per user and per month, you’re given access to a wide range of tools and functionalities. You also get to work with Jira software cloud premium, which scales your business with automated features, 99.9% uptime SLA, premium support and unlimited storage.

Conclusion

When it comes to project tracking and management, it’s important to subscribe to a software solution that not only addresses your business needs but also ensures optimization over all aspects of your platform. Jira provides all of that, especially with the help of external applications and supported integrations made available in the Atlassian Marketplace.

Your software teams will have access to powerful features such as automated workflows, agile project management features and enterprise-grade security tools, meaning each member of your team is now equipped with the right tools to provide quicker and better services regarding developmental plans for the company.

The platform's dedicated features to enhance agile workflows make Jira a preferred choice among agile teams.

What do you dislike about Jira?

My experience with Jira has been great so far. However, one thing that can be a hassle is that no real-time chat or conversation tool is available. It means that clients or users must post their comments and wait for a response if specific requirements or changes are needed in the project. Nevertheless, overall, Jira is a reliable and efficient platform.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

Jira is an exceptional platform for project management. It seamlessly keeps track of all aspects, from inception to completion. I am particularly fond of its notifications, which update me via email and on the web, ensuring that I am always in the loop. It has made managing projects a breeze, allowing me to stay informed and in control. Additionally, its ability to break down large projects and assign tasks to team members is an absolute game-changer. Thank you, Jira!

"A complete tool for project management"

What do you like about Jira?

Ticket request form fields and set up is customizable to your team's needs and JIRA offers users a number of plugins that will connect with other Atlassian tools, including Confluence (and coming soon they promise Trello). One can successfully get what they need accomplished, using tags, watching, and moving tickets. The customizable workflows are a great way to set the tool up for any work process and this helped us get up and running with our user request tickets quicker than I would have imagined when we started the process.

What do you dislike about Jira?

he look and feel of the user interface is not intuitive or user friendly - I often find it confusing and the flow of navigating from one thing to the next, or back to a higher-level view of my project's status is clunky. I would like to see it be streamlined with more simplistic visuals and a clearer workflow. As well, when the custom form was built, I find the breaking up (and ability for anyone to edit) frustrating - it's very difficult to get a comprehensive view of what the request is at a glance.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

We used JIRA as a request intake platform, a system to track tickets after request, and to communicate with end users about the status and timeline of the work they requested. Organizationally, we moved to a different platform but it was a good change. We were able to successfully take in and track requests, set up our own workflow, and complete tickets.

I love the one that allows distributing the tasks among the users or members of the teams that are in charge of carrying out the development of the projects or software, since in this way it is much simpler to complete it, besides it offers the option of to be able to visualize the state of these is to say how much progress has been made in them, or which are priorities in this way there is no way that there is any delay in them and the best that creates reports of the data entered in real time thus helping with the performance of the team in general.

What do you dislike about Jira?

Its configuration and interface require a somewhat elevated learning curve, since they are not easy and the software does not offer a tutorial or information that gives much more precise indications or compresses to be able to work with it in the easiest way.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

It has allowed us to carry out the planning, monitoring and supervision of projects in a very good time, thanks to the tasks that are distributed among the members of the team, which speeds up the workflow.

"JIRA is a great management tool"

What do you like about Jira?

Jira jas great tool to drive agile methodologies, it has a lot of transparency about every team member work at any given point in between a sprint. Team member can manage their documentation in JIRA itself instead of having other tools to work with. It keep tracks of all the team members burn down which is helpful in tracking others work

What do you dislike about Jira?

license of JIRA is a bit expensive side. Interface is not that good and also during navigating to a particular page, user feels a lot of difficulties. Not a common pace where burn down of all the team members together can be tracked of for selected date range.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

We are using it for scrum processes. It has really helped us driving the agile methodologies. We can keep track of work at any given time of a current sprint on dashboard. So we can take quick action if we are lacking somewhere

"A good product to carry out project management"

What do you like about Jira?

A software with very useful features, but what I like the most is the fact that it allows to correct errors and generate reports, in addition to offering excellent tools to carry out a project management in which the teams can organize themselves, provide a better administration of tasks that use scrum, kanban, which allows to establish priorities of the project, which has a very customizable interface both at the user level and at the business level, since it satisfies the needs at all levels and which can be integrated with other tools that the flow of work is much more bearable and the load less heavy.

What do you dislike about Jira?

Sorting is sometimes complex, and the receipt of numerous emails for each registration that is made of tasks is somewhat heavy so I think there are still things that should be improved to make the software much more efficient.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

Using this software has allowed communication both internally and externally much more feasible, plus thanks to the management of projects is much easier, organized and less heavy for each team because that way everyone can take care of different tasks and we can all be to the day of progress and the errors that are presented to us to correct them.

"A very useful software for the management of projects of small, medium or large companies."

What do you like about Jira?

I like that it has a very versatile and predictable interface, that is easy to use, that is visually attractive, and that it offers the best tools for the development and management of projects, being present in each phase in which since it is planned , ideas are exchanged, dates are predicted and task sharing is carried out, being able to visualize the progress of each team or user, this being ideal for monitoring large projects and the best thing is that you can choose a workflow so that the team can adapt to it in a simpler way and thus be able to launch software in the shortest possible time and with the best quality.

What do you dislike about Jira?

To obtain some functions it is necessary to download an application outside of this software and cover your expenses as it is the case with the Gantt diagrams since it is not found as a function of it, that is why its prices can be somewhat high if want to implement adding more features.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

It makes the monitoring and development of projects much easier thanks to the fact that when creating reports, the whole team can observe how the project progresses and what is needed for those who are available to take care of it and thus be able to deliver projects in the shortest time possible since when everyone collaborates, the load is reduced and productivity is increased

// Sales Manager at ConocoPhillips

"One of the best management platforms"

// Software Engineer at Lucky Table

What do you like about Jira?

In this platform, I like that you can visually control many projects simultaneously. Like that you can add tickets and problems to the system very quickly and easily. With this tool, even on an intuitive level, you can easily work.

What do you dislike about Jira?

Many commands require only task management, rather than a fully integrated platform. Because of this, this platform works a little slow. The application is difficult to configure for a large team, but once you configure it, all project management works fine.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

The program helps me plan the tasks that the development team will need to evaluate and do. It is very easy for me to create emails, forms, warnings and much more. The program helps us to contact teammates and supervise the entire process to solve each task.

"Powerful and Highly Configurable Software"

// Senior Project Manager at Timeslide Inc

What do you like about Jira?

Jira extremely powerful and has nearly endless features. The task management feature is great. Either individually or as a group, all views are helpful. I am able to track my tasks, assign people to get opinions and help, and get a quick snapshot of what I need to do on a weekly basis. It is a very user-friendly interface and it has decent reporting.

What do you dislike about Jira?

Permissions are not simple to manage: very often it will happen that a certain user lacks the permission to start or stop a sprint or to move certain issues. Many teams only need task management, not an entire fully integrated platform. Because of this, Jira also runs a bit slow sometimes.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

All our team works remotely all the time and Jira helps us to keep documented and track in our daily work. Every version release is archived with the respective tickets.

// Sales Manager at Continental Steel & Tube Co.

What do you like about Jira?

I like most of all, that I allways know exactly who is responsible for a specific problem in our project. Very easy planning with it.

What do you dislike about Jira?

I liked the service, but its price for our small team is more than that of competitors.
It is also not possible to configure notifications that come to e-mail.
In addition, JILA does not have its own mobile client.
I had problems with the integration of some plug-ins, you need to simplify this

What have you been using it for and what problems did Jira solve?

JIRA is our main contact center in our team. It's very easy for me to create emails, forms, warnings and much more, and JIRA helps us to contact and control the whole process to solve each task.
