TestingWhiz Review

Editors' Review by the Testing Software Review Team

TestingWhiz is a codeless automation testing tool developed by Cygnet Infotech and designed for database, regression, and functional testing of mobile and web apps, web services, cloud apps, and APIs.

This automation testing software enables users to import Selenium test cases. It combines a robust architecture with a user-friendly automation engine that helps streamline and speed up the testing process for developers, QA teams, and testers. TestingWhiz is fully capable of performing end-to-end testing, which includes functional, regression, and database testing. It can also be used for Web UI, big data, distributed execution, and cross-browser testing of cloud, mobile, and web applications.

One of the key functions of TestingWhiz is the ability to capture screen grabs from devices in order to track potential bugs or defects in the software or app that is being tested. An internalization tool is then used to effectively translate reports, scripts, and test cases into multiple languages, depending on the requirements. TestingWhiz is also able to assist administrators, managers, and team leaders in exporting detailed reports in PDF format, sharing the reports and other relevant information with stakeholders, and maintaining a central repository of projects, test cases, and objects.

Administrators may also use this automation testing tool to compare complex data based on specific patterns in the numbers or strings. An integrated Python editor is available for creating new scripts or importing existing ones, which should help manage machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI) use cases. Moreover, the software solution is designed to support multiple web browsers, including the most popular ones such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. The platform can seamlessly integrate with different third-party applications as well, such as Bitbucket, Jira, and BrowserStack.

TestingWhiz Features

TestingWhiz is equipped with a wide variety of features and capabilities, everything that a developer, QA team, or tester can ever need to successfully automate, execute, and manage multiple test cases with ease and efficiency.

Flexible Automation Scripting Technology (FAST®) automation engine

TestingWhiz is a codeless, intuitive, and easy-to-use automation testing tool based on robust Flexible Automation Scripting Technology, otherwise known as FAST®. The platform’s FAST® automation engine helps users create codeless automated test cases using data-driven and keyword-type structures, as well as an object-based architecture with Java scripting capabilities. TestingWhiz’s automation engine is capable of executing various file formats such as DOS, .bat, and .exe, allowing it to provide exceptional speed, flexibility, and ease of execution for multiple automation projects.

Advanced Object Eye® internal recorder

TestingWhiz is equipped with a built-in smart internal recorder, which it refers to as Object Eye®. This tool allows QA officers and testers to record and store all web controls, as well as access and edit objects by using advanced editing features, effectively creating highly modular scenarios intended for more sophisticated test cases. Development teams and administrators can then use the playback function to facilitate their regression testing requirements and streamline and optimize the test execution cycle.

Integrated mobile and visual recording function

TestingWhiz also provides a fully integrated mobile recording tool that enables testing and QA teams to automate the test recording process on various mobile applications and devices. The integrated mobile recorder gives them the ability to record and execute the same test cases on a wide variety of devices simultaneously with relative ease and efficiency. The visual recording tool, on the other hand, helps users automate the testing process of desktop-based software applications, widgets, and flash-based apps by utilizing inputs from on-screen actions like scrolling, clicking, double-clicking, right-clicking, etc.

Integrated OCR capability and Python editor

TestingWhiz also offers a fully integrated optical character recognition (OCR) capability using Tesseract and the Google Vision application programming interface (API). This function gives users the ability to detect and extract characters or texts from images and store them in a target variable, which helps to eliminate the need for manually typing in data. The integrated Python editor works to provide users with a user-friendly platform that will enable them to either write a new Python script or simply import existing scripts and edit them when necessary. This feature allows the platform to effectively manage out-of-the-box AI and ML scenarios.

Subversion (SVN) integration

TestingWhiz appreciates the value of collaborative software development, a highly effective approach that enables multiple developers, team members, and contributors to share their ideas, and concepts and help each other complete tasks and accomplish a common goal. With this strategy in mind, TestingWhiz provides built-in integration capabilities with SVN, which serves as a version control system for development teams. The platform leverages SVN to connect everyone involved in a project, allowing them to work freely on any task or file at any time. The SVN connector enables users to make changes, view the latest files, check their historical logs, as well as revert local edits and modifications.

Risk-based testing functionality

TestingWhiz provides developers and testing teams with the ability to conduct risk-based testing by simply defining the potential risks at the test case level. This will allow them to test specific functions and features according to their relevance or priority. This function takes full advantage of comprehensive risk analysis to properly identify and circumvent defects via non-testing actions. It also helps users pick the most appropriate test activities to perform. With risk-based testing, users are afforded the granular advantage of efficiently testing both critical and minute aspects of any application.

TestingWhiz offers a lot more features and capabilities than those mentioned above. These include integrated PDF and Excel commands, the ability to export detailed reports in PDF format, a centralized object repository, pattern-based data comparison, the ability to merge various test projects, multiple browser support, dynamic test data support, continuous server integration, mobile testing support, robust reporting and logging capabilities, integration with test management and bug tracking tools, a job scheduling tool, distributed test execution, CAPTCHA automation, image comparison, and support for the internationalization of reports, test cases, and scripts in multiple languages.

TestingWhiz Benefits

"Perfect and Powerful Automation Testing Tool"

// Marketing Manager at Cygnet Infotech LLC

What do you like about TestingWhiz?

TestingWhiz is a feature-rich test automation tool and it is among the most easy to use and simple to utilize software testing tool. This is because I am using this tool since last 1 year and till now I haven't faced any such issues. The unique benefit that brings on the top is a capacity to record and playback test scenarios for web & cloud applications.

What do you dislike about TestingWhiz?

There is an execution for cross-browsers and also into Android & iOS, however, there is no support for MAC as well as Desktop testing. That indicates one needs to stick to only Web and Mobile Testing and this is one drawback of TestingWhiz.

"Easy to learn & the most User-friendly Test Automation Tool"

// Test Automation Consultant at Cygnet Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

I have been working using Testingwhiz tool for more than 3 years. As I have also used few other test automation tools for my daily testing related to the web, mobile, etc., but I experience TestingWhiz as one of the most easy to learn automation tool for testing applications because of its code-less testing feature. This tool comes with inbuilt test commands, which you can use to prepare the test scripts. This feature saves much of your time, which helps you achieve better test outputs.

The thing which is lacking in the tool is testing of desktop applications. Also testing of big data apps needs to be improved.

In short, this tool is All-in-one test automation solutions provider, i.e. related to web, mobile, database, cross-browser testing, etc.
