The first I liked was the easy to use graphical interface. It makes complex mappings look easy. A full comprehension of all the technologies involved with data exchange is not needed, most of the work is already done by Babelway. All that's left is mapping your message to that of Your partner with an intuitive drag and drop interface and telling Babelway how You want to receive and send the message.
I think it would benefit of providing more standard message formats for EDIFACT messages used by big retailers.
We use it for EDI (EDIFACT, XML and CSV). It gave us an easy way of monitoring messages and identify problems very fast so we could correct them.
We could select the EDI features we needed to complement our E-documents and e-archiving platform. We could do this in self service, we followed one training and looked at the online help and edi interfaces to understand the way it worked. The platform is in evolution.
We do not yet use all the capabilities of the platform, we decided to focus on one part of it. So we cannot make a full evaluation of the global platform yet. This is something we can do in a later phase.
We decided not te develop certain EDI capabilities inhouse. So we needed a platform that we can configure to complete our e-archive / e-documents / e-transactions platform.
Ability to have complete access of and control of EDI communications.
Ability to make changes within the interface yourself, rather than rely on a development team.
On-boarding of new partners shortened dramatically
I dislike the marketing of Babelway... (they offer more than they describe on their website and you can mis some nice features.
Automate exchange of data with several partners that use systems that accept differing data types
