Shopify Review

Editors' Review by the eCommerce Solutions Software Review Team

Shopify is an eCommerce software platform that gives small to mid-sized businesses the advanced ability and place to easily sell their products online, regardless of location. Its features are catered for easy payment solutions, Shopify POS integrations and efficient monitoring across all factors. This includes product tracking, performance analytics and store management.

Shopify Features

The following features are found in Shopify’s system:

Storefront

Setting up the storefront to your business is made easy with Shopify’s 70 plus professional themes and web-based website builder. If you need help in setting up your store from the ground up, you can contact an expert to assist you in customization. The storefront also lets you publish and categorize articles, create brochures with all the products and their corresponding prices and encourage discussion through the comment section.

Shopping cart

Shopping has never been made easier with Shopify’s free SSL certificate, 100 payment gateways and automatic carrier shipping rates. Depending on your pricing plan, shipping discounts can be used as well. It has other features such as automatic taxes, multiple language options and abandoned checkout recovery.

Store management

This feature lets you manage several customer-related categories. This lets you experience an organized interface complete with customer profiles, customer accounts, customer groups and more. Inventory is also automatically updated, making customer refunds easier to process.

Marketing and SEO

Letting you do on-page SEO practices such as customizing meta tags, you can expect an increase in your ranking when customers use search engines. Marketing features and tools found under this feature include social media integration, letting consumers leave product reviews and letting sellers offer discounts and gift cards.

Inventory and product management

Keeping track of your products can be difficult without the right system in place. However, with Shopify, you don’t have to worry about not being on top of things. You can find helpful tools to assist you in managing your inventory, offering different variations of products, organizing your items based on categories and importing and exporting them using CSV files.

Analytics

Knowing how your business is doing lets you change techniques or boost marketing strategies related to a popular product. With this feature, you can enjoy a variety of tools and features such as a dashboard, product reports, the ability to export reports and Google Analytics integration.

Mobile application

Even without a desktop or a laptop, keep updated with your business through Shopify’s mobile application. Business owners can now capture payments and fulfill orders straight from their phone. The application also has a mobile dashboard that allows you to manage inventory, contact customers and keep data in sync.

Shopify Benefits

Omni-channel setup

One of the top reasons why people are using Shopify in the first place is because it lets you have a virtual store online. The stress of setting up virtual stores is considerably lesser than physical ones. You don’t have to worry about opening at a fixed time and taking inventory manually at the end of each day.

With Shopify, you can sell everywhere—Facebook, Amazon, Pinterest and even the applications that you’ve developed on your own. This drastically increases your sales revenue as people can easily find you online and buy their products that catch their attention. It also helps that Shopify has more than 100 payment processors worldwide.

Digital and physical products

Shopify lets you sell both digital and physical products. Just specify them according to their type. The digital products can be handled through email or downloaded via online storage. This type of feature can’t be done through physical stores, which means you’ll get to sell more products online.

Boosted sales

The third benefit ties well with the previous reasons. Since you have an omnichannel setup with both digital and physical products for sale, it’s expected that your business will experience a boost in sales. However, Shopify’s features also ensure no unnecessary loss from your visitors and customers.

This is observed in Shopify’s abandoned cart recovery tool. People abandoning their carts online is a common occurrence in online shopping, especially when shipping fees are added. However, Shopify has the solution to address this problem. You can now follow up on customers who didn’t complete their shopping process by sending an email.

Shopify dashboard manage orders

Shopify Pricing

If you want to test out Shopify’s previously mentioned features and benefits, the best way to do so is to try its 14-day free trial version. You can start your freemium version at any time as it does not require you to input important credit card information.

When it comes to pricing plans, Shopify offers three of them. They are separated according to their monthly price, available features and even shipping discounts, namely Basic Shopify, Shopify and Advanced Shopify. All the plans have Shopify POS app, hardware peripheral support and third-party POS applications. In this part of this review, the tools, payments and point of sale integrations will be discussed accordingly. This is to give you a better understanding of which plan is most suitable for your business.

The first plan, called Basic Shopify, is catered for people who are just starting out on their new business. It’s priced at $29 per month. The shipping discount can reach up to 64%, complete with print shipping labels. Additionally, Basic Shopify’s most notable features include the following:

  • Online store
  • Unlimited products
  • Two staff accounts
  • 24/7 support
  • Sales channels
  • Manual order creation
  • Discount codes
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Abandoned cart recovery

Shopify, whose price starts at $79 per month, is the second pricing plan. It has everything you need for a growing business. Most of the features found in Basic Shopify have further been advanced in this plan. Expect an increase in staff accounts and additional tools such as gift cards and professional reports. An increase in shipping discount is also noted—this time reaching up to 72%. You can also have register shifts and unlimited Shopify POS staff PINs.

The last pricing plan is Advanced Shopify, priced at $299 per month. It has all the features found in the previous versions with additional tools like advanced report builder and third-party calculated shipping rates. Shipping discount now reaches up to 74%.

If you feel like the prices are not in line with your budget, there’s also a fourth plan—Shopify Lite. It’s priced at $9 per month but works primarily for Facebook and Messenger chats. You can add products to any website or blogs. You can pay for Shopify Lite through credit cards.

However, some people out there have high volume merchants and large businesses. If this is the case for you, then you can consider Shopify Plus. Just contact Shopify’s contact support and request a quotation.

Conclusion

The best way to improve your business is by capitalizing on what everybody else is using. Through the Web, companies and organizations alike are using top-tier software solutions to reach across the globe and widen their audience. Therefore, you’ll see an increase in online stores and shops all from different social media platforms. You have eBay, Craigslist and even Instagram plugins.

Shopify can be the difference between a sinking business and a profitable one. Selling in a remote location just won’t cut it, especially if you want to thrive on increased sales revenue. The best course of action to take is to sell online.

If you’re looking for one of the top software solutions to help you in reaching your goal, then consider Shopify. It’s widely regarded as one of the best online store builders. With more than 100 payment processors worldwide and free professional design store templates, it’s no wonder multiple businesses and companies are using it.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

Shopify is a popular e-commerce platform that allows businesses to set up and manage their own online stores. It is a relatively easy-to-use platform, and it offers a wide range of features and functionality. However, there are also some dislikes about Shopify that users should be aware of before they decide to use it.
One of the biggest dislikes about Shopify is its fees. Shopify charges a monthly subscription fee, as well as transaction fees on all sales. These fees can add up quickly, especially for businesses that are just starting out. Additionally, Shopify charges additional fees for certain features, such as using a third-party payment processor or adding a custom domain name.
Another dislike about Shopify is its limited design flexibility. Shopify offers a variety of templates that users can choose from, but these templates can be difficult to customize. If you want to create a truly unique online store, you may need to hire a web designer.
Finally, Shopify is not always the most user-friendly platform. Some users have found that the interface is difficult to navigate, and that the documentation is not always helpful. Additionally, Shopify can be slow at times, especially when you are trying to add or edit products.
Overall, Shopify is a good e-commerce platform for businesses of all sizes. However, it is important to be aware of the dislikes before you decide to use it. If you are looking for a platform with low fees, unlimited design flexibility, and a user-friendly interface, you may want to consider another option.

Limited design flexibility
Shopify offers a variety of templates that users can choose from, but these templates can be difficult to customize. If you want to create a truly unique online store, you may need to hire a web designer.
Not always user-friendly
Some users have found that the Shopify interface is difficult to navigate, and that the documentation is not always helpful. Additionally, Shopify can be slow at times, especially when you are trying to add or edit products.
Other dislikes
Other dislikes about Shopify include:
The limited number of free apps
The difficulty of adding new pages without using third-party apps

"Best For the Ecommerce Website Development "

What do you like about Shopify?

The best thing is that it saves us to develop the e-commerce website through coding. You just have to design the website in any fashion you may like where you can add the products. Also, you can put multiple payment sources on your e-commerce website. Shopify saves you from hiring engineers for website development and also this saves you from maintaining website security manually. Shopify does it all by themselves. It is helpful for small to medium businesses. This also allows you to add your developed website to integrate into any domain which you want. This software is the best solution which comes with a reasonable monthly charge.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

There's nothing I can say that I dislike because this software as this is the one-end solution for building the website without doing complex coding.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Shopify solve?

Shopify is helping me to build my e-commerce website which is still in the development phase but by using this software I can say that this is the best solution that saves my money and also once my products are ready to be projected live. I will simply add the products to the e-commerce website developed through Shopify and will place it live by integrating it into my domain.

"Shopify: get full control of your online store "

What do you like about Shopify?

Managing inventories within Shopify is not boring at all, as the interface allows us to freely mobilize the informative content of the products, and even allows us to add them to several catalogs that we can create within the platform. Through Shopify Mobile, management is expanded much more in terms of flexibility, since we have the same tools to manage our account, but we can use them from anywhere. The biggest recommendation we can offer about shopify is to learn more about its integrations, because with some of them, such as prestashop or big commerce, an even greater degree of automation can be achieved not only when creating the store, but also When you want to customize it. Your library with design templates is recommended if you are going to work in the area of responsive web design, offering a generally elegant and professional template management.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

When we want to create a new sales channel, it usually takes a long time to join the platform. The tracking system for the trends of each sale is slow, so we cannot keep real-time reports on it when defining the growth of our business.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Shopify solve?

Shopify has its own store for applications, where we can get more than 1000 different platforms with which to connect our business is a benefit. Shopify manages all operations related to the possession of an online store, from its accounting processes to the marketing of its products, so the resulting control is quite complete.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Shopify solve?

"The solution for eCommerce websites"

What do you like about Shopify?

It offers many tools for the creation of an eCommerce, it has many templates that are very professional and you can create a complete virtual store in a couple of hours.

Also I like that it offers a free trial for 14 days, so I can use the company and if I like I can buy the plan.

This company also allows you to associate your own domain to the store, so you can see much more professional than any other platform that works with subdomains.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

I do not like that it does not allow to create corporate emails, this company works with the SaS system, therefore to create some corporate email so buy the domain with Shopify I have to resort to a private hosting or to platforms like G Suite, because Shopify does not allow to create emails On your platform, this is very important and you should improve it because when we talk about an eCommerce store, you need to be very professional, and without corporate emails it is difficult.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Shopify solve?

It has really helped me a lot to have my store 100% professional, it allows me to use the templates that best suit my needs.

This platform has made me increase my sales to more than 100%, since it is very well structured and with easy access to everything.

It is extremely useful and necessary to work with any eCommerce.

"Shopify, the perfect platform to create an eCommerce."

What do you like about Shopify?

I like that this platform allows me to create my own virtual store online and that it is totally professional, I can choose among many templates the one that best suits my needs. It also allows me to integrate the best applications and sales channels that currently exist, this platform is very easy to use, it is not necessary to have a high level of knowledge in programming, since the interface is very intuitive and allows access to all options and configurations in a very simple way, also I can have access to email marketing already configured in the store, at the time I made any purchase shopify send the corresponding notifications.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

What I do not like about this platform is that the support is really bad, they take a long time to respond due to the amount of emails they receive and the little staff they have to meet those needs, send an email to consult something and they answered me two days after. And it is assumed that if it is an emergency they should respond within a few hours.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Shopify solve?

It has helped me a lot to improve my store and make it look much more professional, besides it has allowed me to integrate the applications that I use constantly for other tools, and so I can have better performance when using them.

"Shopify: The perfect way to create an eCommerce."

What do you like about Shopify?

I love this platform, since it is very easy to create a virtual store and the result is very professional, they have fully professional templates that adapt to the needs of each company, this platform is able to integrate many sales channels that are highly popular and necessary for the development of a good eCommerce, also has integrated email marketing, the interface is highly intuitive, very simple to use, allowing people who do not have much experience with the development of a website to create professional sites. I have used this platform for a couple of years and the results have been excellent, it has very good statistics that shows every action that the clients perform on the site.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

Shopify has many good things but it has a weakness that should improve very soon, it is that they do not have a section to make a blog, we know that it has a section to create pages and we could place it there but the configurations come mostly only for eCommerce, not It shows a panel of easy administration for a Blog, to publish entries and the rest, is designed mainly for eCommerce, that forces us to make the Blog in a subdomain but that is not very good.

What do you like about Shopify?

Shopify is a great and easy to use system that simplifies both the seller & buyer's experience. It is used across our whole organization and it is our storefront. It really simplifies the retail shopping experience for both the seller and buyer. There are several apps that can be used congruently to help with statistics and email marketing, that is why it can provide detailed analytics to help you get to know your customers' buying habits.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

There are plenty of templates you can choose from but unfortunately, it is not free. And the free ones are not good enough. If you want to connect Shopify with Facebook Store on your business page, you might have a problem since sometimes the inventory on Facebook cannot match the inventory on Shopify.

"Useful for social media marketing"

// Marketing Coordinator at Soulcentric LLC

What do you like about Shopify?

It has beautiful and customizable templates (but they are not always free). Also, Shopify is easy to use and very expandable. Apps or plugins allow us to launch new initiatives in a timely and cost-effective manner. It's solving the business problem of having an easy e-commerce solution. I recommend to others all the time. The customer service with Shopify could quite possibly be the best part about working with them. Their tech support is so knowledgeable and quick to provide support. Easy going professionals.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

I'd like to see more free templates. Shopify uses a different set up to customize their themes rather than using PHP for their templates. Overall there is great control of SEO, though they do unfortunately require pages and collections to be part of your URL string for those respective sections of your website, these words have pretty much no SEO value to any website.

"Most powerful ecommerce platform"

// Marketing Manager at Extra Vital Science

What do you like about Shopify?

Full-featured and powerful ecommerce platform. You only need to choose theme from a large number of proposed and customize it for youк style. No design skills needed. It is very easy to add new sales channels, manage a large number of your products, place orders with one click, easily follow your progress and track popular products among your potential buyers. You will have a great opportunity to sell your product or brand in one place with the help of Shopify. If you purchase this software, you will get a lot of benefits, and a great platform for e-commerce. The only thing that I would advise, is to spend more time designing the topic at the initial stage, to think over all the nuances in advance. At the first time in Shopify you will feel all the simplicity and powerful of this service, it cannot be easier.

What do you dislike about Shopify?

For me, it was not easy to set up this platform for e-commerce, but all functions suit me completely and meet all my parameters. The only thing I would like to edit my template, but I cannot do it already, everything needs to be done correctly at the initial stage. In addition, the import of products through the CSV file system seemed a bit more complicated than necessary.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Shopify solve?
