The score for this software has improved over the past month. What is this? |
Lightweight software which is browser based and does not require modern hardware to run. Existance of audit trials to log changes in the lab system.
Too many bugs that should not occur in a mature final product. Electronic worksheets look messy without proper line and page breaking and inconsistent margins and spacing. A lot of bugs related to data transfer from instruments or data entry into electronic worksheets. The software must be ran on Internet Explorer only which is a major security concern. The data collection from 3rd party software such as Empower is not user friendly and often takes more time than manual data transfer by pen and paper-based worksheet. The approach to setting up worksheet for testing is laborious making the user read through hundreds of lines of codes and sub-menu instead of using an intuitive UI, in short the design is very buggy and outdated for the price they ask.
I have been using it to manage my laboratory for pharma industry. Unfortunately over the past year Caliber LIMS has caused more problems than solving it. We were expected to change our procedures or policies to fit their system because there are too much limitations even on some basic functionalities like sorting Chemicals alphabetically or having Solutions expire based on time (24 hours) and not by the next calendar day. The customer support is also stubborn and are often reluctant to take up our cases unless we book a timeslot with them on TeamViewer to reproduce the issues under their noses. Screen recording or screenshots with comprehensive descriptions are often not entertained as if they want to make you give up eventually. Issues will often take days or weeks to solve and they often do not get things right the first time. Worst of all, there was a period where they were not accepting any tickets from us because they want us to sign up for an annual maintenance contract, despite the product had numerous unsolved issues and being defective from launch.
