Gradelink Review

Editors' Review by the School Management Software Review Team

Gradelink offers an easy-to-use cloud-based student information system. Teaching and learning have never been made easier with its various features and tools. This includes being able to offer unlimited personalized support via phone and email, better train your staff and provide professional development webinars to other team members.

With Gradelink, administrative processes are made easier. The system helps in connecting teachers, students and parents through a single interface. Important data such as grade scales, assessments, subjects and even tuition fees can be viewed using Gradelink. This is very helpful for overall productivity, especially compared to the manual method of hanging out report cards and scheduling meetings just for parent-teacher consultations. It helps save time and energy from both sides of the education system.

Gradelink Features

Administrative reports

Since Gradelink is created to ensure easy school management, one of its top features involves having several tools related to administrative reports. This means being able to post and update details regarding address labels, birthday lists, classes based on attendance, classes based on average grade, family directory and more. Other tools include IEP tracking, lunch reporting and security activity log.

Attendance logs

With attendance logs, you can easily track students, teachers and other employees alike. From the administrative perspective, you can schedule advanced holidays, create an attendance register and track if your students are entering their classes or not. This feature also allows you to create custom attendance reports and have daily attendance as well.

Classes and scheduling

You can view all your classes with the system. Under this feature is a sub-feature called block scheduling, which allows users to configure rotating block schedules on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. You can even base this off on semesters, trimesters or quarters. Your schedules can also be made distinct through color-coding to prevent confusion.

Communication

Reaching out to your staff or even the parents has never been made easier. You can use a variety of tools such as email blasts, group builder or text alerts. If you wish to publish updates or post announcements, you can ensure your message has been received by using SmartSend or SmartSend Pro. This is helpful for parents as well since they can just go to the website to check on updates and school news.

Discipline

When dealing with troublesome kids, it’s always to keep an updated record on them to prevent them from repeating their mistakes. With the discipline and counseling feature, you are given the tools to help keep these kids in line. Furthermore, this feature can be viewed from different perspectives. What the teacher sees is different from what the parents can see. Schools also have the option to decide how much information to disclose to the parents. Additionally, students will no longer be able to “lose” their disciplinary notes and fail to inform their guardians about their behavior.

Tuition and billing

Schools can send billing payments or accounts receivable to the parents as a reminder to pay their dues. This makes it easier to collect payment and provide transparency regarding convenience fees and multiple tuition rates. In the premium service, you can even process payments. However, this is only available in the U.S. and Canada.

Gradelink Benefits

Cloud-based platform

One of the main benefits you can receive from using Gradelink is the ability to access information through a web-based platform. Users can organize everything—from student information, medical records, class schedules and final grades—properly and efficiently. You don’t have to worry about missing information since everything you upload in the drive is easily saved and updated.

When it comes to engaging with parents for scheduling meetings or by posting grades online, it’s always better to use a cloud-based platform. This makes it easier to establish direct communication between the parents and the teachers. Information that is shared online is managed carefully and safely. Additionally, it’s easier to find what you’re looking for, compared with the paper method. You can just search it up on the system and be immediately redirected to where you want to go.

It also offers transparency when it comes to information. Parents can immediately check the system regarding their children’s report cards or any news to be released by the school. Overall, the online platform is valuable in data visualization, role-based access and open communication between student, teacher and parent.

Work smarter, not harder

If you’re an educator or a school secretary, Gradelink offers a variety of tools and functionalities all catered to make daily operations easier for you. Due to its easy-to-understand interface, users don’t need to have any technical expertise in navigating the system. Gradelink makes all school-related processes easier to manage and follow through. This includes enrolling students, processing payments and publishing grades online.

Teachers and educators alike can experience a smarter way of working. They don’t have to go through the tedious and stressful process of combining lesson plans and calculating grades manually. Instead, they can use the system to fully address the prior challenges of manual data entry.

Additionally, due to its cloud-based platform, administrative staff and educators can access the system anywhere. They can work from anywhere, as long as they can connect to the internet. It means they don’t have to necessarily go to school just to finish paperwork. Instead, they can work smarter remotely with the help of Gradelink. This makes their job easier.

Customer support

Before you can try Gradelink’s services, users are advised to go through the free demo first. Through this, a Gradelink representative can provide you with the best custom-built account that’s designed to address the specific needs of your school. For example, if you have more than 15 students, it’s best to use the version created to handle 51-100 students.

Gradelink’s customer support is said to be top-rated and personalized to ensure customer satisfaction. Their agents are responsive and helpful in providing the necessary support for their clients. If you’re having difficulties with some functions or features, you can always contact Gradelink or watch their webinar videos.

Gradelink Pricing

Gradelink offers a free demo for educators. However, you need to first book an appointment with a Gradelink representative first, so your specific needs and requirements are met thoroughly. This makes it easier for schools and users to find a pricing plan that fits the number of students and functionalities required.

Gradelink’s services start at $92 per month, per school. Its pricing model follows a subscription style. When users want to avail of Gradelink, the number of students is the main contributing factor to the change in price. For 0-15 students, it costs $92. For 51-100 students, it costs $126 per month and per school. If you have more than that, specifically 101-150 students, then Gradelink will charge you $161 monthly. For 151-200 students, the price increases to $184 per month. When it’s 201-250 students, you’re expected to pay $207 per month and per school.

There are other pricing plans if they don’t fit the number of students you have in your school. For schools with more than 250 students, you can contact Gradelink for a quotation.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a cloud-based school management solution, complete with powerful features and easy-to-understand interface, then you should consider Gradelink. Its features include curriculum management, K-12 functions, online calendar, portals for both students and teachers and online payment options. "Gradelink Makes Keeping Track of Grades Easier"

What do you like about Gradelink?

My school has been using Gradelink for quite a few years now, and it keeps improving. It is so nice to not have to sit and calculate grades manually at the end of each grading period. If anyone is missing assignments and I have used the "IC" for that assignment, it's easy to print out whatever assignments are missing. I also like the way the parents and students can also keep track of how they are doing and how parents can set up automatic emails for certain grades--both good and not so good ones. If I need to contact a parent, I can easily do it through Gradelink. Gradelink keeps improving and adding other helpful tools for teachers and office workers.

What do you dislike about Gradelink?

It would be nice if when the attendance is done initially in homeroom, other teachers could see who was absent or may be in later on their individual class attendance page for that subject. Our secretary puts notes in but we don't see that on the attendance page--we can only see it on the grading page.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Gradelink solve?

I use Gradelink to take attendance for each class, inputting grades for each student in all of my classes, students can look ahead each week to see what we will be working on and when it is due, I can keep track of incomplete assignments very easily, and I encourage parents and students to keep track of their progress on Gradelink. As for problems solved, I no longer have to figure out grades manually at the end of each quarter and it's easy to check their progress as long as grades are updated at least once a week.

The teacher pages are intuitive, making it simple to implement even for those who feel tech-challenged. The lettering in Classes drop-down menus is quite small and can become easily confused and cluttered during term changes. It would be helpful if this was more clearly organized.

We've used Gradelink at our K-8 charter school for over 10 years. Primarily it's easy and intuitive for everyone to use - teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Any questions I've had have been swiftly answered by their technical support team.

"Gradelink Has Many Good Features All Together in One Product"

What do you like about Gradelink?

First of all, I appreciate the lengths the employees go to when addressing any issue you bring up to them. You can direct your issue with specific people who become familiar with your organization and can lend the support you need to take care of whatever issue it is.

What do you dislike about Gradelink?

Sometimes, the system itself takes a long time to respond when you try to get some information or update information in the system. I hope they can resolve this.

What have you been using it for and what problems did Gradelink solve?

Kirov Academy is a non-profit Arts Academy with academics and Fine Arts courses, specifically ballet and music. We use the EnrollMe function especially as well as the SmartSend option for communicating with our parents and students. We have yet to set up the Financial side, but look forward to using it.

"Gradelink grows our school!"

What do you like about Gradelink?

Everything! School management in every area has allowed our school to manage student and family information in a streamlined and effective fashion. Student record keeping is a snap. Keeping family information current is a breeze. The opportunity to expand what we do on Gradelink is always possible/ Having used comparable resources in the past, Gradelink gives our school the best platform to excel!

What do you dislike about Gradelink?

There is not one thing that I can say about Gradelink that is negative. Reaching for such a comment would be a stretch. In the past, I would have said there were issues in lack of training resources, but those concerns have been addressed in the pasty year, and when we have a question the ansers and training videos or tutorials are easily accessible!

What have you been using it for and what problems did Gradelink solve?

Family information, student records and much more. We are looking into expanding our use for annual contract signing and re-enrollments soon.
