What's New in Version 3.0
Welcome to v3.0, we are happy to announce the long awaited offline mode feature. You can now access your educational content with no network connection. This is the initial version of offline mode, so not all features will be usable for offline use. As we make updates more and more features will be available offline. To get access to offline content other than the basic home pages, you must first visit the page while online to get that page’s content. Below are some detailed notes about offline mode: -By default, offline mode will be disabled, but we'll display a tip that shows that it's available and how to activate it. This is important because offline mode causes content (including potentially large videos) to be downloaded and stored on your mobile device, which in some areas of the world can cost money for the bandwidth and we don't want users to get unexpected bills. -When activated, offline mode proactively caches the left navigation and the latest version of all pages that you visit. We only cache pages that have not been cached before or that have changed since the last time they were cached. -The caching is done by a separate thread which loads the content in the background and stores it in the memory of the device. -If you visit a page with tabs at the top, such as your home landing page, it automatically caches a copy of the content under each tab whether you click on the tab or not. -If a page contains uploaded videos, they are automatically cached whether you play them or not (since perhaps you will play them later). We don't cache videos that are not uploaded to our site (for example, videos on YouTube or Vimeo). -If you go offline, we display a red "offline" indicator at the bottom of the screen. When you go online, this turns green and then disappears. -If you are offline and click on a link to content, then if that content was cached, we display it, otherwise we pop up a message that says that the page was not cached for offline viewing. If you click on a link to perform an action such as take a quiz or send a message, we display a popup that mentions that these kinds of actions are not currently available when offline. -You can click the settings icon (a cog) on the bottom of the screen to see your cache settings and how much data you have cached so far. This screen also allows you to flush your cache and/or disable caching entirely. -If you have less than 1GB of free space for caching, we stop caching additional content until you either clear the cache or free up additional storage space.
