Software Description:

Developed by the company behind the popular timeline maker app Tiki-Toki, ChronoFlo Calendar allows users to include images and videos in their calendars and (with a premium account) embed the calendar on their website or blog. It also features a unique timeline-based navigation component that greatly simplifies navigating through the calendar.

"Anyone who has used a calendar app before knows how difficult it is to see what events you have in three or four months time," says Webalon founder Alex Kearns. "You have to tediously click through one month at a time until you find the month you want. Our software is different. It includes an integrated timeline that you use to jump to any month you want with just one click."

ChronoFlo Calendar also previews past and future events as icons in the timeline, giving users a good idea of how many events or tasks they have coming up. "You can hover over the icons to get information about events that are not in the currently-displayed month, making it much simpler to find an event whose date you are not sure of."

The timeline navigation is not ChronoFlo Calendar's only innovative feature. Unlike other online calendars, ChronoFlo Calendar is designed from the ground up to allow users to customize the look of their calendar. "You can change the color of everything," says Alex Kearns. "You can also choose from multiple fonts, select a background image for your calendar, give it rounded corners... You can even choose the color and size of drop shadows."

There's no more having to put up with a handful of ugly themes that most online calendar software offers. "We do offer a number of hand-designed themes that users are welcome to use," says Alex Kearns. "But they are not forced to use these. They can create their very own theme to perfectly match their brand or design aesthetic."

Alex Kearns believes that the unique timeline-component and unrivalled customization options will allow ChronoFlo Calendar to compete with the market leading calendar solution Google Calendar, especially for use as an events calendar. "There is no getting away from the fact that Google Calendar is the market leader in online calendars by a long way. Virtually everyone uses it. Despite this, hardly anyone embeds a Google Calendar in their website."

"We actually use and love Google Calendar - and have integrated it with our product so you can display Google Calendar events in a ChronoFlo calendar - but sadly Google Calendar does not work that well as an embeddable events calendar and it doesn't offer much in terms of customization.

"If you want to have a branded calendar that can display rich media content such as images and videos, to promote your events to your website visitors, then you will likely find ChronoFlo Calendar much more useful than Google Calendar".

Alex Kearns envisages that organisations with events to promote - such as museums and art galleries - will be the main market for ChronoFlo Calendar but he can also see teachers using it to share their class schedule with pupils and families using it to manage their lives. "You could include an image of your children in the calendar on the day of their birthdays."

ChronoFlo Calendar follows the freemium model. Users can create a fully-functional calendar that can be shared on the web without paying anything. Premium account users get to embed their calendars on their website or populate their calendar with content via feeds.
