About Recordit

Recordit is a GIF-based screencast tool that provides desktop clients for both Windows and Mac. It allows users to record desktop screen for as long as five minutes. The service comes as a free app, with a possibility of upgrading to the PRO version, that features an increased frame rate and password protection.

After downloading, the Recordit icon appears on the Start menu. To start recording, you just need to click on the icon and select the area you want to capture. After recording is finished, the video gets automatically uploaded to Recordit’s servers.

This app also offers screen sharing possibility, because it doesn’t encode videos on user's computer. Instead, everything happens on the web, where it becomes public. That makes Recordit a great tool for showing someone how to perform certain operations on their computer, like launching a program or editing a Word document.
