PivotData Microservice is a cross-platform on-premise .NET Core app that provides a web API for real-time data aggregation and generation of pivot tables and charts. This application may be hosted either on Windows or Linux.

Data sources are configured with JSON config which can be either a static config file or provided dynamically by main web app; microservice can be supported by a multi-tenant/SaaS usage scenario and each user could have its own customized data source configuration. The following connectors are available:

  • SQL: SQL Server, MySql, PostgreSQL, SQLite, ClickHouse, and any other DB with ODBC driver
  • MongoDB
  • ElasticSearch
  • Local CSV files

Web API generates reports by JSON report descriptions and can be used for both canned and custom (ad-hoc) interactive reporting. Pivot tables advanced options: percentages, differences, custom formatting & labels, TOP-N limits, server-side pagination, formula measures, report parameters for database-level filtering. In addition to HTML rendering, reports may be exported to PDF, CSV, Excel, and even Excel PivotTable.

Microservice is shipped with front-end components (javascript) for pivot table/chart web report builder; these widgets could be easily integrated with any web application for embedding self-service ad-hoc reports, pre-configured reports, or BI dashboards.
