About ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus

Patch Manager Plus is an all-around solution to enhance business network security by the timely distribution of updates/patches to all endpoints in an IT infrastructure. This includes laptops, desktops, servers and roaming users. The product supports cross-platform patching and a vast number of third party applications. With over 350+ third party applications supported, users do not miss another important software update.

Patches are released by software vendors to modify their solution's security and performance. A patch is designed to update a computer program by improving it or fixing any issues or flaws present in it. These fixes, also known as bug-fixes are responsible for improving an application's overall usability. Apart from minor bug-fixes, patches are rolled out to fix important security vulnerabilities present in their software.

Such patches, that tackle security vulnerabilities are often discovered when different users report an issue or security flaw associated with the software program. Hence patches are often released in the nick of time before an actual exploit of the vulnerability takes place.

This makes looking up new patches for applications, downloading them and deploying manually an arduous task for administrators. Also this makes overlooking a critical update and the subsequent exploit of software vulnerability even more likely to happen.

Patch Manager Plus, along with its set of tools to automate workflows, aids IT admins at all stages of the patch management cycle. Workflows for scanning systems, detecting missing patches in systems, downloading and deploying to managed systems can be automated hence, tightening the network's security.

User can manage scheduling of the patch distribution process by using the product's flexible deployment policies. Depending on the company's policies, an administrator can set a number of these deployment policies, which are configured to run at certain times of the day or week.

As soon as patches are released, they are first tested by ManageEngine and then made available in the patch repository for deployment. Product users can distribute these to target systems with missing patches.

The product interface allows users to draw information like the priority of un-patched vulnerabilities based on the risk it poses towards the network. This is indicated by low, moderate and critical patches. Also a dedicated tab for gathering reports is available in the console. These reports help with audits in IT management and security management.

Patch Manager Plus works as on-premises or cloud-based solution and has 3 different editions. The free edition, professional and enterprise edition. This patching solution is completely scalable to manage any number of endpoints across a rapidly growing business.
