What do you like about TeamDrive?

We, semcona GmbH, have been using the secure cloud service from TeamDrive since 2016. Previously, we worked with a NAS (Network Attached Storage).
The disadvantage of the NAS was that all employees always had to dial in via VPN access to access the data. The desire for a simpler solution grew, so we started looking for a cloud solution.

Data exchange at semcona GmbH

As semcona GmbH, we support our customers in the areas of digital market research, digital strategy and digital content. In order to guarantee the best possible quality, the individual work steps sometimes go through several feedback loops.
With the NAS at the time, we faced several problems. On the one hand, the VPN connection was sometimes a hindrance, especially when working in the home office or from other end devices. On the other hand, when editing files, a file was quickly overwritten. It was not uncommon for documents to be lost as a result.

Our requirements for a cloud solution

It quickly became clear to us that a better solution had to be deployed. The demands and wishes of IT and employees for a cloud were quickly defined:
- Data security and secure encryption (end-to-end encryption).
- Data storage on servers in accordance with German law
- Traceability of data creation and processing
- Possibility of personal server installation
- Simultaneous data processing
- Access independent of location and device
- Consideration of the at that time freshly decided DSGVO
- German support

The global players among the cloud providers such as Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive did not meet our expectations. During our research, we came across TeamDrive. After intensive study of the supposedly small cloud provider, we found that our requirements for a cloud solution were extensively met by TeamDrive, and so our decision was quickly made.

From the cloud solution to our own server with TeamDrive

We jumped straight in with the TeamDrive cloud solution, as it can be used immediately without implementation. The TeamDrive client integrates seamlessly into the system environment used, so there is no need for time-consuming training for users. After some time of use, the desire arose to no longer store the data in the cloud, but on our own existing infrastructure in-house. Since TeamDrive offers local use as an option to the cloud natively, moving the data to the local TeamDrive Personal server at the beginning of 2018 was trouble-free and possible without much effort.

TeamDrive setup and maintenance

From the moment we moved to the Personal Server, IT itself was responsible for backups, availability and administration of the server. The setup was simple and straightforward. We still have a second server in use as a backup and maintenance or similar is not necessary. The only thing to do is to check for new updates at regular intervals.

Simple and uncomplicated operation

An important point in deciding on the right cloud provider was ease of use. We didn't want our employees to have to undergo extensive training.
TeamDrive is very intuitive to use. Each employee is invited to the relevant Spaces by our admin. After a short briefing from our IT, the workflow with TeamDrive is explained in an understandable way within five minutes.

Secure and convenient data exchange with TeamDrive

We have now been using TeamDrive for five years. New employees quickly become familiar with the functions of the data service. The older employees are pleased that data is no longer lost unintentionally, can be found quickly and the folder structure is clearer. Everyone, whether in the office or home office, has access to the latest data at all times. Thanks to full end-to-end encryption, they are also protected and all data protection conditions are fully complied with.
TeamDrive brings greater efficiency to our day-to-day work.
